Guide to Huddersfield
Huddersfield is a great traditional Yorkshire town, surrounded by
stunning landscapes, plenty of places to get out and explore as well as
being in easy reach of bigger cities such as Leeds, Sheffield and
Manchester.
Attractions such as the acclaimed Yorkshire Sculpture Park which is
part of Europe’s leading open air art organisations is lucky enough to
host some of the UK and international artist’s modern and contemporary
work is within easy reach. A fantastic day out, when the weather is
kind to us!
Shopping
Shopping in the town has just stepped up a gear with the Kingsgate Shopping Centre which has an abundance of great places for you to splash some cash and don’t forget to take advantage of your student discounts and your Privilege Card. If you fancy a trip out a bit further you can take a train or drive to Meadowhall in Sheffield or there’s Leeds city centre which is just 20 miles away.
Nightlife
Huddersfield’s nightlife has
everything a student could possibly want for. Great bars, clubs and
plenty of cheap nights out to fit any budget. Tuesday’s and Wednesday’s
are especially popular for nights out and thanks to the great low taxi fares for DIGS students you can be ferried in and ferried out with no hassle.
You’ll find the usual big chain bars which offer great deals on food and drinks throughout the
week and the big nightclubs are hugely popular with past and present
students as they play a wide selection of music genres; something to
suit everyone!
Culture
If you want to soak up a bit of culture The Lawrence Batley Theatre has a fantastic list of live performances from plays to comedy and showings of films, they also offer student discounts for you to take advantage of.
